The less-travelled jewel in the southern lakes region, Carcross, is a historic gateway to Alaska. The mountains surrounding Carcross and the Southern Lakes offer a breathtaking view into the coastal mountains which many stampeders traveled to Dawson City during the Klondike Gold Rush in 1898. Today we can enjoy the rich history of this small community nested on the shores of Bennett Lake while we also snowshoe in the smallest desert of the world, Carcross Desert.
